up the beach

vancouver surprises me very often. jericho beach in december has a distinctly british, out of season resort feel to it. choppy seas, wind rattling through boat masts, dog walkers in big jackets. what you don’t get, or i’ve never seen, with british beaches is mountains surrounding you on all sides, ski slopes, supertankers and a view of the metropolis two miles away.

bright lights, big city

time

reflecting the sun, a silent beast. i said to jen that when you look at these ships that sit for weeks, waiting for their spot loading or unloading, it’s like they’re dead. you can’t see any life on them, the lights come on later on but you don’t see life. i find them eerie.

this is ‘pos dignity‘, a 76000 ton cargo ship from hong kong which has been here for at least the last 5 days.

let it be
